Best Yoga Apps for iOS and Android
1. Yoga | Down Dog
The most recommended Yoga app and also editors’ choice on the Play Store. First off, the app requires a sign-up to use it. You can customize the yoga sessions according to your comfort and level. You do that by choosing the length of the session, type of Yoga and even select from six multiple instructional voices. Besides that, there the app packs a 3 day introductory Yoga series which develops a basic understanding of Yoga. For example, intro to Vinyasa, hath yoga and restorative practices. The Yoga sessions can be downloaded for offline viewing so you don’t have to bother about an active internet connection all the time. What’s good?

The app features 3D animated models that mimic the Yoga poses, so you can easily follow through in addition to text instructions. There are many workout sessions that you can choose from, such as a complete beginner course, morning yoga, core yoga session, etc. My favorite features include built-in calender, BMI calculator and most importantly a daily reminder, to keep you on track. So, if you’re a beginner, download the app, simply set a time and don’t be lazy. What’s good?

Social networking helps you to stay motivated and this one lets you do that. You have a profile where other users can follow and comment on your activities and posts. The apps require you to sign-up and set up a profile with general personal info along with other details such as daily activities performed, nature of work, etc. Besides Yoga poses and sessions it also features audio meditation sessions to train the mind along with the body. You also don’t need to manually track your progress as it has a workout log section where you can check your training history. There is but one drawback. You have to download these sessions individually to be able to use them. What’s good?

5. Yoga Tools
The app is developed with the guidance of a well known Indian yoga guru, Jaggi Vasudev. There aren’t many exercise options, but I’m mainly suggesting this app due to the narration and overall experience of each session. There are video sessions divided into sections like Yoga for Health, success, over-all wellbeing, etc. But, what makes these sessions different from others is the introductory talk by Jaggi Vasudev, Indian classical music, and well-illustrated yoga poses. If you have a knack for this and don’t want to go through long sessions, I’m sure using this app will calm you down along with your body. What’s good?

If you’re a new Yogi, I’m sure you’ll be confused with all the Sanskrit yoga jargon. Pose and posture in Yoga is the top-most priority. If not done properly, it not only lessens the benefits but can cause injuries as well. It monitors your pose and posture while you perform the asanas and provides instructions whenever there is any correction with the pose. In total there are 5 guided courses and 21 sequences of different Yoga poses with varying intensity. Moreover, the app adapts to your behavior over time and constructs your training accordingly.
