Most Windows computers have an audio application that manages the sound, devices, and playback. Even though Windows can natively do that but OEMs add this bloat as a personal touch in the name of quality. Asus has a Realtek Audio Console that does this, it routes the audio to headphones when you plug in headphones.
Disable “Headphone Jack Inserted” Popup
Press the Start button and search for Realtek Audio Console in the Start Menu and select Device Advanced Settings from the bottom left of the newly opened window. Read: Windows Your Phone Companion App: Getting Started Guide
Toggle the switch off next to “ Enable Jack Detection when a device is plugged in”. Next, click the radio button next to “ mute the internal output device, when an external device is plugged in”.
This would ensure that the console doesn’t automatically popup but the audio is still routed to the headphones. However, you’d still get regular notifications that you’ve plugged in your headphones. If you want a completely distraction-free experience with no notifications, just disable the notifications permission for the Realtek Console.
To disable the notifications, go to the Start menu and click Settings to open the Settings page. Click ‘System’.

Now, you won’t get any more notifications or popups when you plug in your headphones next time.
Final Words
This was a quick way to disable the annoying popups and notifications that appear every time you plug in a pair of headphones. I don’t mind getting a notification but these OEMs should find a way to detect if I’m plugging in a new pair of headphones every time or not and only show a notification when the computer doesn’t recognize the headphones. Some Dell laptops can already do that so I know that it’s not impossible. What annoying popups do you get on Windows, let me know in the comments below?
